Product Review: Batiste Dry Shampoo

Hands up who thinks that dry shampoo is one of life's true treasures?

I wasn't blessed with the kind of hair that looks better when it's unwashed (think, Serena Van Der Woodsen-esque). Nope, I was blessed with a thin head of hair that I can wash first thing in the morning and come 5pm looks like someone has smeared oil on the roots.
That, girl, is nasty.

Recently, I've been on a bit of a venture; I've been attempting to 'train' my hair to not get so greasy throughout the day by pushing my hair to the limits using Batiste Dry Shampoo XXL Volume and I can officially say that I've been loving it (& the extra time that I can spend in bed - it's Autumn, it's cold and I'm lazy, OK?)

Something I've not really spoken about with my lovely readers on the blog just yet is that Luke & I have finally booked our wedding which is super-exciting, however I’m panicking that my hair hasn’t grown nearly as long as how I’m imagining it to be on the day. I’ve been doing my research & other lovely bloggers swear by washing their hair less;

less washing = more essential oils to nourish your hair + less heat styling = happy hair

It totally makes sense.

With my oily locks, I was really struggling to give up the washing every day and so I picked up this XXL version of Batiste’s infamous Dry Shampoo.  In all honesty, I've been using Batiste for years, so when I saw this XXL version, I figured that it wouldn't hurt to give it a go. My flat, limp hair needs all of the volume it can get, for God's sake and I'm very happy to report back that it's my new favourite hair product! It really does give me a little oomph in the roots and makes me feel a bit like Cheryl Cole (minus the glamour, the face, the body... and everything else. Damn her good genes).

I started taking my dry shampoo around with me in my bag and giving my hair a quick spritz throughout the day if it was looking a little worse for wear and then I started  leaving it overnight, spritzing again throughout the following day and then giving it a wash. I then went to three days, then four. It’s been about a month and a half now and I can honestly see the difference in the length already.

Yes, it’s pretty gross and most of you are probably thinking that it’s not worth the effort but it really has been a lifesaver. Also, seeing as I'm leaving it longer before washing, I'm using significantly less heat on my hair, which really has made it feel a tonne healthier. I'll be posting a full review on my hair growth soon, so keep an eye out if it sounds like something you'd like to read more on.

I've tried almost every dry shampoo on the market and this is the one that I always tend to revert back to. Some have come close to it, but the 'XXL volume' aspect of this just keeps bringing me back for more. Just a quick spray onto my roots and the excess oils vanish and leave me looking as though I've actually spent time styling my locks.

With my dark hair, I must admit that you can get a slight grey-tinge if you don’t rub it in properly, but just keep tousling it & it will finally disappear and leave you with fantastic hair.

Have any of you tried this one yet?

You can pick this up from all Boots stores Nationwide in two different sizes.

Claws for October

Pretty, nude nails were a must this month as I'm a bridesmaid for my best friend next weekend & needed something simple & elegant that will match my dress, but that won't look out of place with my everyday outfits until the next trip to my nail technician.

As always, I went to my favourite nail salon (I'll leave the details below) and they always do a fantastic, thorough job - it'll take a lot for me to up sticks & switch to a new salon.

Classique Nails & Beauty
161 Portland Road
Hucknall

They don't have a website, but you can call them & book an appointment on 01158598649.
You don't have to book, they do allow walk-ins & if you drive, just park on the street down the side of the salon.

I pay £24 for acrylic infills & gel colour overlay, just FYI.
