How To Fake Microblading using Eyelure Dylash

Hi.

Today's post is more of a product review than anything and as the title suggests, this review is going to be on my holy grail beauty product; Eyelure Dylash.

I have been using this on and off for years & I'm absolutely certain that they never worked like they do now, but girls, my trick is to not only use it once, but apply the product as many times as you need to until you get the desired effect.

Until I retried this product a couple of months ago, I was literally just about to book an appointment to have my brows microbladed for just under £300... I can't believe that I've got similar results for under £8.

Don't believe me, look at this:

In the 'before' photo, the top and arch of my brows are actually leftover dye from previous Eyelure dying, so they look fuller than they naturally are. The 'after' photo is two applications of the Dylash.

It's absolutely changed my life - I know that sounds totally OTT, but honestly, I can't even tell you how conscious I am that I barely have any eyebrows. It used to take me about 10-15 minutes to do my brows every morning; I had to draw the outline, make them even, fill them in and then buff out the inner section for a more 'natural' look.

After using this dye, I can literally get up, do the rest of my makeup and not even have to touch my brows until the dye starts wearing off (& even then, it's literally a touch up on them).

The best thing that I've found about this dye is that it dyes not only the hairs, but the skin too which is why it works so well for me. Like I mentioned above, I genuinely don't have any hairs on the upper part of my eyebrow and the hairs that I do have are very sparse and spread out, but this dye grips each hair and then creates a natural looking effect on the hair-less parts.

I use the shade 'Black' which sounds extreme, but I promise it comes out the perfect dark brown - I've found that the brown shades come out too 'red' on my skin and look terrible. Using the black is handy too, because you can pop it on the ends of your lashes to give the look of naturally thicker, longer lashes, perfect for holidays.

I would say that my results last about 4-5 days until the dye starts coming off the skin, but the dye stays on the hairs and still leaves a nice guide for me to fill in my brows, halving the time that I usually take to draw them on. I tend to re-dye my brows once a week, sometimes twice dependent on my plans.

I've had the same pack for about 2 months now and I still have at least 4 more applications - the box states 'up to 12 applications' but I swear I've had double that.

I apply mine with an angled brush rather than the spoolie that's supplied with the pack as then you can get the precise shape that you like. If you make a mistake, wipe off with a cotton bud before it has a chance to stain. Once applied, wait the allotted time and then wipe off. If you feel like you need more dramatic results, repeat the application. I tend to do it twice per dying session, sometimes three times. I find that you can get a nice fade to the inner parts of the eyebrow by only applying to that part once and avoiding it on the 2nd application.

This generally retails for around £8 (£7.50 at Boots here).

Honestly, if you're considering microblading but don't really have the cash, please try this first. No, of course it doesn't last anywhere near as long as microblading, but it's 37 times cheaper, so who's the real winner?

Let me know if you've tried this before and if you do try it, please tag me on Instagram - I'd love to see your results too!

The Perfect Autumnal Day

How Instagrammable are these pictures?

I've wanted to go pumpkin picking for as long as I can remember, but I had no idea where on earth you find these places; that was until I saw a couple of people posting on Insta about this gorgeous pumpkin-filled space that is just the epitome of "Autumn".

Maxey's Farm Shop (website here Instagram here) is home to this beautiful spot and they grow their pumpkins each year and then offer the public free entry to the pumpkin patch where you can scan the field for your perfect pumpkin and then you go and pick it yourself.

When you first get there, you are directed where to park and then you can grab a wheel barrow and go into the patch through the sign-posted entrance. To the left of the patch is a cute little 'scary walk' through the woods that only takes a couple of minutes and then you finally get to walk into the sea of pumpkins. The view is honestly quite breathtaking - it's somewhat magical seeing hundreds of pumpkins set out in front of you.

At this point, the search begins to find your perfect pumpkins.

I really wanted to find a couple of cute baby pumpkins that I can put around the house as decorations, whereas my sister wanted to find the biggest one possible. They had every pumpkin that you could possibly imagine and near the end in small crates were 'ghost' pumpkins (the white ones) and very, very ugly pumpkins (very Halloween-y).

Once you've picked your chosen pumpkins, you go towards the entrance where there's a small sheltered area and that's where you pay. The prices are absolutely fair; ranging from £2 for small pumpkin to £3.50 for the XXL ones.

I have to admit that I definitely wasn't dressed accordingly, but then for anyone that knows me, that won't come as a surprise. Also, make sure that you have cash, otherwise you have to visit the Farm Shop and spend £5 to get some cash back, but the queue was so long and it took around 20 minutes to go down.

Once we had finished there, we went down the road to Newfield Dairy ice cream parlour (website here) which is a small cafe with handmade goodies where we warmed up with a tasty ultimate hot chocolate & then went on to a pub more local to home and ended the day with some proper homemade food.

A Saturday well spent in my opinion. Have you ever been pumpkin picking?

Welcome back

Hello my loves!

This post will be pretty short and sweet, but I wanted to put something out there before I dive straight back in to posting again.

It's been exactly a year since I last posted on this blog and whilst I've absolutely missed updating, it's given me a chance to focus on other things that I needed to get on with.

Since my last post in October 2016, I've been a bridesmaid, I've planned a kick-ass hen do and wedding for April (there are plenty of posts coming about this!), I've made new friends, seen old friends, started making my house more modern, concentrated on Slimming World and successfully lost 2 stone (and still going!), worked on getting my career on track and in the past month, I've also got a new job!

In my coming posts, you'll hear a lot about the things that I've got up to in the past 12 months and also the things that I have coming up in the next 6 months (erhum, wedding).

I just thought I'd take the time to ask that if there's anything in particular that you'd like to see in my posts, please let me know and as always, if you want to keep up to date with my daily ventures, please follow my Instagram; Jessicaemilystarbuck.

Sidenote; you'll notice that my blog URL is now simply Jessicaemilystarbuck which I think sweeps in better with my personal brand - strange that I'll possibly be changing this after the wedding!

Thanks for sticking with me, have a fab weekend!
