RIMMEL WONDER'FULL MASCARA REVIEW

''The secret weapon to full volume without clumps. The new formula with Argan Oil feels incredibly lightweight, soft and flexible for wonder'full volume that won't weigh you down.''

Okay, so I recently went along to an event that Rimmel were holding, where they told us about a few new products that they are launching; one of which was this new Wonder'full mascara.

I had heard absolute wonderful things about this and when they offered me a free tube of the stuff, I practically snatched their hands off (poor boy).

I could not WAIT to use this the next morning after seeing such wonderful (get it, huh huh) results from a number of bloggers. Up I got, looking forward to having a lovely set of lashes for the day, but unfortunately this left my lashes lacklustre, barely defining my lashes. The more that I tried to put it, the less that seemed to be staying. I figured that I'd started it all wrong and gave up, going for my HG mascara to fix the problem that the Wonder'full had left.

Just after I had got ready, I hopped in the car with my sister to find that she had the most stunning, defined lashes that I'd seen in a long while, to which she explained 'omg, it's that new Rimmel mascara.. the Wonder'full'.

Baffled, the next morning I tried again.. And again the next day.. And also again. I wanted to love this mascara, but I just can't get it to work on my lashes. Maybe I have a funny formula? It does smell a little 'off', however my sister's smells identical, so I'm not too sure. Another downside to the mascara is that it leaves your lashes slightly greasy upon removal, making me feel somewhat dirty.. Not cool.

Anyway, in one of my crazy rushes to get ready for work, I left my mascara open one day and upon arriving home, I thought that I'd give it one more go, et voila the answer was there.
The formula was slightly too wet, so it was just slipping off my lashes and not gripping them in the slightest.
I now have a very lovely, slightly dry mascara that has become a staple in my daily routine.

This hasn't get knocked my HG L'oreal So Couture off the top spot yet, but good one Rimmel, I am definitely a fan!

L'OREAL PARIS MILLION LASHES SO COUTURE MASCARA

You may have seen that this mascara featured in my latest "Beauty Favourites" post (here for anyone who missed it) and damn, did it deserve to be there!

I've always been a huge fan of L'Oreal mascaras- my usual go-to being the Volume Million Lashes Excess, but being very impressed by the recent Miss Manga and the Mega Volume Collagene mascaras.

I find that L'Oreal are spot-on when it comes to their mascaras; their formulas are never too runny, yet not too dry and they are so deeply pigmented that they absolutely kill any other mascaras in terms of defining the eyes. Their brushes are always so fabulously designed- they tend to grab each lash, defining, lengthening and curling them to perfection, they get so close to the base of the lashes that you don't need eyeliner, and they give the most volume and flutter-ey-ness to my lashes that no other mascara has come close to.

This mascara is no different to all of the factors that I listed above.
I've never known a mascara to give my lashes such volume and make them flutter the way that this one does. Also, the formula makes my lashes so dark that it gives my eyes such depth and definition that I've been scrapping my eyeliner. The brush gives you just enough control to get to the very inner lashes too, which is definitely something that I look for in a mascara.

Another bonus of this wonderful mascara is that it smells absolutely divine!
If I could bottle this smell, I would.

Here are my lashes with just one layer of this mascara on;

See how my eyes look defined, but not too heavy.

Has anyone tried this beauty yet?

3 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND: BANK HOLIDAY

1. OGGLE AT IAN SOMERHALDER
(just because he's ridiculously hot)
If you have nothing better to do, then just look through Google images at Ian.
It'll make your day.

2. WRAP UP WARM
Bank Holidays are notorious for their chilly weather and this one is no exception.
Typically the English weather is up and down.. One minute I'm popping my sunnies on, the next I'm getting torretial rain-ed on.
Wah, shouldn't these April showers have stopped in April?

3. HAVE A COCKTAIL FOR ME
unfortunately some of us have to work the entire weekend (me), so please, please have a mojito for me.

How are you spending your Bank Holiday?

HOW TO: REVAMP YOUR MANKY MANI

To me, white nails are chic, sophisticated and will match any outfit, but when I recently decided to take the plunge and get white stiletto-style acrylic nails, I hadn't any idea of the maintenance that they would require...

Unfortunately, after just two days of my lucious nails looking pristine and fresh, they started getting somewhat drab & un-polished; I had a number of dark spots scattered across them, (admittedly, these were most likely down to my excessive fake-tan obsession) they had yellowed and eventually, they had started to chip & crack.

Sad that I had another 3 weeks until pay day (we're not all rich, you know) and couldn't bear to part with yet more money to fix my talons, I decided to sort them out myself.

Now, this part was somewhat trial and error;
I was so bothered about covering the awful mess that I merely grabbed the nearest polish that I could find and slathered it on...
There were many problems with this method, the main ones being;

a. The polish simply sank into the original chips and cracks, making an uneven, unpolished mess.
b. I'm an impatient plank, so I gave up on waiting for my polish to dry and went to bed. Little tip: dont.
I woke up with a neon orange blob on my forehead and another on my leg, and my nails, as you can imagine, were far from perfection!

c. I had hair, fluff and all crumbs (tramp.) stuck to my nails.

Realising that I couldn't leave the house with such an abomination on my claws, I decided to start a fresh.

At this point, I grabbed my most powerful nail polish remover..
Another little tip: dont.
Whilst it did take off all of my crumby nail polish, it also took off half of the acrylic whilst doing so. Damnnit.

This is where I took I step back and actually thought about what I was going to do.

#1 Use an acetone-free nail polish remover to get rid of any remaining polish that's on your nails.
Tip: Use a cotton bud to get right into the edges. You want a complete clean slate.
Also, grab a soft nail file and gently buff the nails so that your base is smooth and ridge-free.

#2 Decide what colour you're going for. For this mani, I chose to go for a bubblegum pink.
Tip: If you're as impatient as me, grab a quick-drying polish. My favourites are Rimmel 60 seconds.

#3 Grab a drink and put on a film- this way, you're not gonna get bored.

#4 Take a base coat and cover each nail. Wait until this is dry to the touch and then put two coats of your chosen polish on, again waiting until each coat is dry before starting the next.

#5 Use a top coat to seal the deal.
I tend to repeat this step a day later too, just to ensure that the polish doesn't chip.

Another tip; If you do have a white or very light coloured manicure, I have found that using an acetone-free nail polish remover very gently on a cotton pad will bring just the top coat off, taking all of the dingy, yellow state with it, meaning that all you have to replace is the top coat. Doing this twice a week keeps your mani fresh and ready to
go, go, go!

So there we have it; a fresh mani that will take you up to your next trip to the salon.

Do you have any tips that you can share?

HOW TO: MILKMAID BRAIDS ON MEDIUM-LENGTH HAIR

1. Start with fresh, untangled hair.

2. Separate any hair that you'd like to leave out of the braids.

3. Part your hair down the back into two sections.

4. Brush the hair to make sure that it's smooth and taut. You don't want your layers falling out here, there and everywhere.

5. Pull the first section up as if you're going to put your hair in to pig-tails & start your plaits from this height.

6. Plait your section and tie an elastic band around the end. Repeat the above steps on the other side.

7. Pull your plaits outwards to make the fatter. This gives the illusion of thicker hair.

8. Take your hair grips- I usually use two or three.

9. Pull the first plait up and over your head and secure into position.

10. Grab the other plait and put over to the opposite side, making sure to cover the ends of the first plait.
Tuck the end underneath the beginning of the first plait and grip into place.

Et voila!
Cutesy milk maid braids without the long locks that you would usually need.

L'OREAL SUBLIME BRONZE MOUSSE: REVIEW

img taken from Google

This tan has become my one of my HG fake tans over the last month or so and so it definitely deserved a spot on here, right?

I'd never tried anything from the Sublime Bronze range before, but when I spotted this at work for just £1, I thought that I'd give it a blast and wow, aren't I glad that I did!

I love almost every aspect of this tan, bar two points:

1. Why doesn't this stay on my neck?
I've tried exfoliating the day before, exfoliating the same day, moisturising the day before, moisturing on the day and even moisturising afterwards. I've tried no moisturiser at all (can I say moisturiser any more?), but god, this will NOT last on my neck. On application, it looks okay- nothing spectacular though- but give it 5 minutes and it's completely patchy and looks like I have a severe skin condition.

2. Why won't this take on my face?
Literally every tan than I've tried except the Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan (review here) just will not show on my face, it's so frustrating. When I take my makeup off, it looks like I have my head on someone else's body.

Okay, so negative thoughts out of the way, here are some of the reasons that made me fall in love with this tan:

xo It's multi-functional; Upon application, it leaves a gorgeous deep brown stain over the skin, drying evenly with no patches in sight but then when you jump in the shower, the guide colour washes off to reveal a natural-looking tan. Bonus points for it's multi-functionality!

xo It smells lovely. There's not so much of a fake-tan-biscuity-smell, but more a summery, coconutty smell.

xo The tan lasts at least 5 days before you see any signs of  wear, which is pretty fantastic.

xo You can layer up the tan to get a darker shade without it looking like there is too much of a build-up.

xo It spreads very easily and you only need 3 pumps to cover the entire arm which, compared to many fake tans I've had in the past, is very little, hopefully meaning that this will last slightly longer than your average bottle.

Grab a bottle from here for just £9.99

WHAT I'VE BEEN LOVING THIS WEEK: #1

I heart Vegas - Lindsey Kelk
This is the third book in the series of the fabulous I heart... by the very talented Lindsey Kelk.
These books are laugh out loud, joyous reads that I simply cannot put down.
I urge you to get the first book right now from here.

Barefoot Sandals
I've been lusting after these for a while now.. There are so many variations of them and I just cannot resist flicking through eBay and looking at the beauty of them.
I can just imagine myself walking on the sand, a sunny beach, pina colada in hand, mmhmm.
Boho chic at it's finest.

Marshmallow Mateys
Yep, my new favourite cereals. These are a cheaper, yet surprisingly tastier version of Lucky Charms and thank heavens they're available to buy in the UK.
I get mine from the American section in my local Tesco.

The Vampire Diaries
I feel like I completely missed the boat on this show. I never watched it when it aired on TV, and I had ran out of things to watch one day last week so, on a whim, I decided to give it a whirl.
What on earth have I been missing out on?!
This has literally taken over any spare time that I've been able to get.. Even right now, I'm itching to get back to the show. I've even converted Luke- dare I say that he's even more in to it than I am?
It's gripping, tense, funny in all the right places. I love that it's not typically dragged out; everything seems to come and go, unlike shows like 90210 where one event will be dragged out over three episodes.
If you haven't watched this (hello, where have you been?) then you NEED to
download and sign up to Netflix and start watching this bad boy.
I guarantee that by episode three, you'll be well and truly hooked.

Vita Liberata PHnomenal 2-3 week tan
I've wanted this since the second that I heard of it's release but have never been able to part with the best part of £40 just to own it.
There are a serious lack of reviews on this baby, and the ones that I have come across haven't really been written in it's favour, however when I recently saw this in our staff shop for £3, it was an offer than I simply could not refuse.
Now, I will be uploading my review of this some time in the near future, so I don't want to give too much away, but as far as the formula goes, it's an absolute dream to apply, has a lovely, fresh smell and provides a natural-looking, non-orange tan.
I am, so far, very impressed!

What do you think to my favourites this week?

5 THINGS TO DO: RAINY DAYS

imgs from Pinterest

1. GO PUDDLE JUMPING
Go on, grab your wellies and pretend to be five again.

2. BUILD A FORT
Collect all of the duvets, blankets and cushions and build yourself the coolest den.
Take in a lamp and some goodies and have a nap.

3. HAVE A FILM/TV MARATHON
My favourite rainy-day marathon-choice at the mo has to be The Vampire Diaries.
I completely missed the boat on it so I'm currently playing catch-up, but damn guys, I am hooked! (Admittedly I can only watch when Luke is about as it does slightly frighten me!)
Before this, me and my sister would always spent our rainy days watching Gossip Girl.
Ugh, what I'd give to be B or s.
Both programs are available on Netlix now.

4. STAY IN BED ALL DAY LONG
Curled up in bed with a cuppa tea watching the latest Corrie episode is where you're most likely to find me on a rainy day.

5. READ A NEW BOOK
I would definitely recommend;

Lindsey Kelk - I Heart... series
John Green - The Fault In Our Stars
Stephen Chbosky - The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Cecelia Ahern - If You Could See Me Now

MAKE SPOTTY SKIN A THING OF THE PAST

Do you want clear, glowing skin?
Stupid question, right? I mean, who doesn't?

Here are a few tips that I have picked up over the years that are gonna give you the best possible chance of a youthful, spot-free face:

1. Never, ever sleep in your make up. I mean it. Never do it.
To keep on top of this, I always have a pack of wipes at the side of my bed for nights when there are one too many mojitos involved, this way, there is never an excuse!
My favourite wipes are No 7 Quick Thinking Wipes.

2. Double-cleanse whenever you get the chance.
Try and find a cleanser that contains sacyllic acid for your best
chance to combat pesky breakouts.
I'd recommend this Garnier Pure 3-in-1 Wash.

3. Change your pillow cases as often as possible.
Switch them around so that you avoid sleeping on the same side more than three times.

4. Try not to touch your face throughout the day.
Transferring bacteria onto your face is just ew..

5. Give mineral foundation a blast. This is so soft on your skin
and will help to not clog pores, leaving them nice and clean.
My favourite mineral foundation HAS to be Bare Minerals HD READY foundation.

6. Try and cut out sugary and fatty food/drinks.
Go for diet Coke instead of regular.

Do you have any good tips for keeping your skin clear?

JULY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

I know, slightly delayed, but better late than never, right?!

NO 7 BEAUTIFUL SKIN QUICK THINKING WIPES £7.00
THESE WIPES ARE FANTASTIC. THEY'RE NICE AND MOIST- I HATE WIPES THAT ARE SO DRY THAT YOU'RE ALMOST PULLING YOUR SKIN AWAY WITH THEM. THESE ARE VERY GENTLE ON MY SKIN, NOT LEAVING IT DRY OR TIGHT. I LOVE TO USE THESE TO GET THE MAJORITY OF MY MAKEUP OFF BEFORE I USE MY CHOSEN CLEANSER.

I LOVE THE SMELL OF LEE STAFFORD PRODUCTS, THEY ARE LIKE PERFUME FOR THE HAIR. I HAVE A SALT SPRAY BY THIS GENIUS BRAND TOO, WHICH I USE BEFORE A NIGHT OUT SO THAT I SMELL BEAUTIFUL.
THIS SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER MAKES MY HAIR FEEL SO MUCH STRONGER, STOPPING IT FEELING SO BRITTLE AND SNAPPING WHENEVER I RUN MY FINGERS THROUGH IT. THIS CONDITIONING MASK CLAIMS TO HELP WITH HAIR GROWTH AND WHILST I CAN'T MAKE ANY COMMENT ON THAT, IT DOES HOWEVER MAKE MY HAIR SILKY SOFT AND STOPS IT SHEDDING SO MUCH.

THIS RANGE IS FANTASTIC. I OWN 90% OF THE ENTIRE RANGE AND I USE MOST OF THEM ON A DAILY BASIS... IT IS LITERALLY THE BEST HAIR CARE RANGE THAT I HAVE EVER TRIED; MY HAIR FEELS COMPLETELY NEW, SO REFRESHED AND UNDAMAGED. THEY DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAY ON THE TIN- I CAN'T RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL TWO FAVOURITES;
PRO-HEAT REPAIR MILK: YOU PUT THIS ON DAMP HAIR AND AS YOU BLOW DRY/STRAIGHTEN HAIR, THE HEAT ACTIVATES THE FORMULA AND REPAIRS YOUR HAIR.
INTENSE RESCUE MELTING BALM: THIS BALM REMINDS ME OF THE HIGHLY RAVED ABOUT OJON DAMAGE REVERSE MASK BUT AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE. IT LEAVES MY HAIR SOFT BEYOND COMPARE, I LOVE IT!

FAST SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER £29.99 FOR SET
THIS SET IS A LITTLE PRICIER THAN WHAT I'D USUALLY BUY- I MUCH PREFER DRUGSTORE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONERS BECAUSE I DON'T BELIEVE THAT
HIGH-END CAN OFFER THAT MUCH MORE.
NOW, TO SAY THAT I'VE BEEN USING THIS ALL MONTH, I REALLY HAVE NOT NOTICED MY HAIR GETTING ANY LONGER-- IF I'M HONEST, I FEEL LIKE IT'S DOING THE OPPOSITE!
HOWEVER, THIS HAS TO BE IN MY TOP LIST THIS MONTH BECAUSE ALTHOUGH IT DOESN'T DO AS IT SAYS ON THE BOX, IT IS THE BEST CLARIFYING SHAMPOO I THINK I'VE EVER USED. SERIOUSLY, MY HAIR IS SQUEAKY-CLEAN AFTER USING THIS!

SEVENTEEN STAY POUT LIPSTICK £4.49
in delinquent & going steady
THESE LIPSTICKS LAST ALL DAY, HAVE A CREAMY FORMULA AND DON'T FLAKE. THE COLOUR RANGE IS SUPERB; THERE IS A DIFFERENT SHADE FOR EVERYONE.
THE PACKAGING IS SIMPLE AND SLEEK.

L'OREAL SUBLIME BRONZE MOUSSE £14.99
MY NEW FAVOURITE FAKE TAN.
I LOVE THE COLOUR THAT THIS TAN CREATES UPON APPLICATION- IT'S A STUNNING, JUST GOT BACK FROM THE BAHAMAS SHADE THAT STAYS WITH YOU UNTIL YOU RINSE OFF.
ONCE RINSED, YOU ARE LEFT WITH AN EVEN, BEAUTIFUL BASE COLOUR. FOR ME, IT'S NOT NEARLY DARK ENOUGH, HOWEVER IT DOES MAKE A GREAT BASE TO PUT ANOTHER LAYER OF THIS BABY ON TOP OF.
IT SMELLS LIKE SUMMER IN A BOTTLE TOO, BONUS!

THIS MASCARA IS GREAT FOR DEFINING THE SMALLER LASHES IN THE INNER AND OUTER CORNERS OF THE EYES AND FOR SEPERATING LASHES. I FOUND IT HARD TO GET MUCH VOLUME WHILST USING THIS, BUT WHEN USED ALONGSIDE THE NEXT ITEM THAT I WILL MENTION, IT'S A KILLER CONCOCTION FOR FLUTTERY LASHES.

L'OREAL SO COUTURE MASCARA £7.99
WHENEVER I NEED A NEW MASCARA IN A RUSH, I ALWAYS TURN TO L'OREAL.
L'OREAL MASCARAS ARE SOMETHING THAT I'M DEFINITELY IMPRESSED WITH AND TURN TO ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS. I SAW THIS MASCARA AND FIGURED THAT I'D GIVE IT A GO, AND I'VE CERTAINLY NOT BEEN LEFT DISAPPOINTED. THIS GIVES VOLUME, DEFINITION AND LENGTH TO MY LASHES, AND THE PURE BLACK FORMULA ENSURES THAT MY EYES ARE PERFECTLY COVERED.
ALSO, THIS SMELLS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I WISH THEY WOULD BRING OUT A PERFUME THAT CAPTURES THE SCENT!
BY FAR MY NEW HG MASCARA

VICHY TOTAL BODY CORRECTIVE FOUNDATION £21.75 for 100ml
I FEEL LIKE I'VE RAVED ABOUT THIS ENOUGH.
IF YOU ARE YET TO HEAR ME 'BIG THIS UP', PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS POST.

SOAP AND GLORY THE FIRMINATOR £12
I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT EVERY EVENING BEFORE BED AND EACH MORNING BEFORE DRESSING AND I CAN CONFIRM THAT MY UPPER ARMS FEEL SO MUCH MORE TONED!
NOW, HONESTLY, THEY AREN'T LOOKING TOO DIFFERENT BUT THEY DEFINITELY FEEL SMOOTHER AND MORE SUPPLE. I'M GONNA KEEP USING THIS ALONG SIDE THE SIT TIGHT 4D THAT I MENTIONED IN ANOTHER POST HERE BECAUSE I REALLY DO FEEL THAT THEY ARE FANTASTIC PRIDUCTS.

WHAT ARE YOU LOVING THIS MONTH?

3 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND: CHANNEL YOUR INNER CHILD

1. GO TO THE FAIR:
Google where your nearest fair, carnival or event is in your area and pop along there this weekend for fun, food and a fantastic time. (if you're in or around Nottingham, come along to the Riverside Festival)

2. BAKE FAIRY CAKES:
Grab a cake box mix, preferably something along the lines of Barbie or Tom and Jerry, and bake some deeeelicious cakes. Half of the fun is eating the mixture though, right?

3. PLAY DRESS UP:
No, not that kind, you filthy buggers. Get your prettiest party dress, do your hair and makeup and pretend to be a princess in a tower for the afternoon.

what will you be doing this weekend?
